Nasolabial folds, commonly referred to as „smile lines” or
„laugh lines,” are the deep lines or
creases that run from the sides of your nose
down
to the corners of your mouth. They are a
natural part of facial aging and become
more
prominent as you get older. Nasolabial folds are
more noticeable when you smile or
make
certain facial expressions.
As you age, your skin loses collagen and elastin, leading to
sagging and wrinkles. Genetics play
a role, with some people predisposed to deeper
folds. Repeated facial movements, sun
exposure, smoking, dehydration, and loss of
facial
fat can also contribute to the formation of
nasolabial folds.
